Cultivating Canadian Growth

Canada has the potential to become a global leader in ingredient manufacturing. Meeting this potential and building a more robust domestic ingredient manufacturing sector will:

  1. Help secure Canada’s food supply chain, while helping meet global food needs;

  2. Create new markets for our farmers and crops;

  3. Bring investment to local communities and create new jobs; and

  4. Generate $25 billion in new economic activity for Canada each year.

  1. Increase capital investment into the sector, through the establishment of equity capital and a robust suite of government incentives.

  2. Create demand for Canadian ingredients in new and established international markets.

  3. Support the creation of a regulatory environment that enables the growth of the Canadian value-added agrifood sector.

  4. Support the building of a Canadian toll-processing facility.

Protein Industries Canada

The Road to $25 Billion is an initiative of Protein Industries Canada. Since 2018, Protein Industries Canada and industry have invested nearly half a billion dollars into innovation related to plant-based food, feed and ingredients. Protein Industries Canada along with its partners will soon announce more than $100 million in new investments within the sector.
